Our Story
We’re Cal and Lara — the people behind C&L Web Design.
C&L didn’t start as a business idea. Long before there was a name or a website, we were already designing and building things for ourselves — usually late evenings at the kitchen table, talking through ideas and finding ways to make things clearer, simpler, and work better.
Two different strengths, one shared approach
Cal comes from a technical background, building practical web applications and systems that solve real problems. One of those projects became Fencenet — a tool created to support fencing businesses by making everyday work easier and more efficient. His focus has always been on making technology useful, reliable, and not overcomplicated.
Lara brings the creative eye, alongside real experience running a small business. She built and grew Sparkey’s Cleaning in Stewkley, a business that still runs today. Through that, she learned what business owners actually need from a website: clarity, trust, and something that supports the business rather than adds stress.
Why we do things differently
At some point, it clicked.
If we enjoyed building for ourselves and had learned so much along the way — why not do the same for others?
We didn’t want to become a faceless agency that felt intimidating or out of reach. But we also knew we weren’t hobbyists. What mattered to us was finding the space in between — professional and reliable, while staying human, approachable, and honest.
